The mission of Black Lesbian and Gay Pride Day, Inc. (BLGPD) is to build awareness of and pride in the diversity of the Black lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community as well as to support organizations that are addressing HIV/AIDS and other health issues adversely affecting our community.
We have grown from a humble one day event; to becoming the catalyst for establishing over 36 Black Prides in the United States. Now as the original and longest running, most inclusive Black Pride in the United States; DC Black Pride is changing its focus and its direction from one weekend long celebration. DC Black Pride will now focus on gearing its efforts to events that will take place throughout the year with specific emphasis on HIV prevention and education, community involvement and social activities.
